April 2013 Favorites

I know it's late to do this post, and I never do favorites posts...but still there's always a first time right?

Here are some products I was using quite often in April and most also before that, although I don't do makeup everyday.. It's just BB cream, compact, sometimes Blush, eye kohl, Mascara and lip balm.

So here we go...

Skincare favorites-

1. Nivea Soft Face Cream- I have been using this for almost a year I guess and I am happy and content with this. I have dry to normal skin so this one works just fine with me making my skin soft, being light and non-sticky on my face. I had reviewed this some years back, will review again since I think of differently now.

2. Parachute Advanced Soft Touch Body Lotion (Dry skin)-  I used this first when I had to go on a 5-day college trip and picked a bottle of this since it was the only one which was perfect size for travel (the one above is a big one) and love this then onwards. I like the other variant for Dry skin even more than this. It's just what my skin needs during the winters. So I guess this works rest of the time.

3, Garnier Light 3in1 Fairness Facial- I love this as a face mask, but for a quick glowy and clean face I sometimes use it as a face wash and scrub. Reviewed here.

4. Lotus Herbals Safe Sun 3in1 Matte Sunblock- I have been using this same tube for a long time so thought of adding this here. I seriously don't know if it has done anything or not..I get tanned anyway! I use it after Nivea soft and it doesn't make my face shiny or oily.

5. Garnier Light Fairness Face Wash- Okay, so I seriously don't believe in the 'fairness' crap in any of the products we get in India. I was bored with my Clean n Clear Face Wash and got this. Its an okay everyday face wash.

6. Kailash Jeevan Cream- I don't know if you guys are aware of this cream or not but I bet lots of Maharashtrian households use this, if not you maybe your grandparents might know this product. It's a great life-saver I tell you, it works for pimples, prickly heat, irritated skin, chapped lips, cracked heels, dry skin, and so on.
If I get a pimple, I slather this up on that spot after cleaning my face and it goes much faster, same with prickly heat. My forehead was bad with prickly heat, this cream healed it..and now my flat smooth and clear forehead is almost back.

Makeup Favorites-

I. Face Products:
1. Lakme Perfect Radiance Compact- Like this a lot, gives great coverage and affordable. Its packaging in changed now and since this was almost over I got the new packaging one.

2. Lakme Rose Powder- Have been using this everday ever since I got this. I need a new one now. Great everyday loose translucent powder. Reviewed here.

3. Maybelline Clear Glow BB Cream- Yep, I like it. Not sure whether I love it or just like but I was using this everyday to college. It gives a nice healthy glow and covers up light spots.

4. Just Candy Creamy Conceler- Got this a month or two back just to try, and even though I am skeptical about this brand the concealer is creamy, pigmented and matches my skintone and conceals well.

5. Colorbar Blush Peachy Rose- This is my favorite blush, and still haven't reviewed it crap! You know I am bad with posting reviews on time. But Peach Rose gives a warm and beautiful glow to my face.

6. The Balm's Hot Mama Blush-  Ha! I won this in a giveaway, first time.. And this one is gorgeous and shimmery. It looks great as an eyeshadow!

II. Eyes, Lips and Nails:

1, Maybelline Colossal Kajal- Got this the 3rd time, it's good, affordable and stays on well!

2.Maybelline Hyper Curl Mascara- This one is 3rd time too. I like that it is inexpensive and does its work well. Reviewed here.

3. Nivea Olive n Lemon Lip Balm- Use this at night and when I just need something soothing and light on my lips. Reviewed here.

4. Nivea Fruity Shine in Cherry- My cult favorite! I am ignoring other lip balms because of this. Love the deep pink-red tint it gives and of course it fruity scent.

5.  Nivea Fruity Shine in Pink Guava- Pink Guava was my 1st fruity shine and love it too although after I got Cherry I am using this less. But I use both a lot.

6. Maybelline Lasting Drama Gel Eye-liner- Aah..the gel liner! I have used this a lo if not everyday. I still need to improve my speed with gel liner. Stays whole day, comes with a nice brush.

7. Nail Paints- I was loving these nail paints past month, that dark Etude one I loved!

I hope you enjoyed my first Favorites post. Feel free to let me know your favorites.

Elle 18 Color Burst Lipsticks- Strawberry Falls and Berry Ice Review and Swatches!

Hey guys!

Today I am going to review two lipsticks from Elle 18 Color Burst range. I had got them last year from Urbantouch.com. I am not a lipstick person at all..but still wanted atleast two for special occasions.

Price:-  Rs. 100/-

Packaging:- The lipstick comes in a very cute black plastic packaging. It's not much sturdy but what that's okay for the price.
p.s.-You can see the packaging of Strawberry Falls looks dull whereas the other one looks new and shiny. You'll know the reason below.

What I think about them?-
I don't really like them that much. Although the Strawberry Falls one is good and better than Berry Ice.
The Berry Ice one is frosty finish with glitter! And let me tell you the glitter sticks on to your lips and I hate that! The other one is used up because my mom uses it sometimes. So I gave it to her and hence the Berry Ice looks so new.. :P

Pros:-
1. Inexpensive
2. Some colors are good
3. Doesn't dry your lips

Cons:-
1. Less pigmented
2. The glitter particles stick to your lips
3. Some might feel a little drying (this for you Berry Ice!)
4. Not long-lasting

Here are the Swatches of both:-

Will I re-purchase these?- NO!!

Nivea MED Protection Lip Balm Review

Hey everyone!

So today I am back again with a lip balm review and this time it is Nivea's Med Protection lip balm. Check out my previous lip balm review here.

This is my first Nivea lip balm, I'd used one when I was in school but this is first Nivea lip balm to come in my collection. Below picture shows what all is written on the packaging it came in.

Price:- Rs.145/-

Packaging:- Comes in the trade-mark nivea packaging with the white twist-up thing and colorful lid. I got this particular one just looking at the pretty mint color! :D

What I think about it:-
I'd got this when I was going through a certain weird lip allergy, my lips were super dry and irritated. This although is not super moisturizing helped in healing my lips. It is light and smooth to apply, comes off clear (obviously). And I must say this lip balm I used continously for 2-3 weeks without using any other lip balm. I have finished half of the product and still use it..although not that often (I have many more to select from now)..

Pros:-
1. Nice packaging (me loves the bright color!)
2. Clear lip balm, nice alternative from daily tinted lip products
3. Light and smooth on lips
4. Gives a soothing feeling
5. Worth the price
6. Doesn't give any white or waxy layer

Cons:-
1. Might not work for people with super dry and chapped lips (but I think it will)..

Will I repurchase it?- Maybe. There are so MANY lip balms to try! :D

I have another clear Nivea lip balm which I love. Here are both of them together.. :)

Have you guys tried this product?

Lakme Rose Powder in Warm Pink Review!

Hello everyone! Hope you are having a nice weekend! :)

Today I am going to review a product which I use each and every single day without fail and that is my Lakme Rose Powder. It is basically a loose translucent powder which is fit for everyday use. You might have seen this is my 1st Urbantouch.com haul last year.

Price:- Rs.90/- (I got it for Rs.80/- online) for 40gm.

Shades:- Come in two shades- warm pink and rose pink

Packaging:-
It comes in a dark brown shiny plastic packaging. It is like a tub with lid as most of the loose powders are packed. The packaging is quite good for the price. It also comes with an applicator which is good and is quite soft. It packs LOT of product in there..it will last you for more than 2 years. I have been using this for a year now and you can see in one of the photos I have still half of the powder left.

What I think about it:-
It is a good translucent powder for everyday use since it is tinted, not like the white talcum powders. Hence doesn't make you look white. It has light coverage and a faint smell like other Lakme powders. I say this is worth it if you don't want to use your more costlier compacts or powders everyday.

Pros:-
1. Nice packaging
2. Good for everyday use
3. Light weight and gives a matte effect
4. Inexpensive
5. Good amount of product, will last longer
6. It also says it has sunscreen in it

Cons:-
1. It has only two shades. That might be a problem for dark skinned beauties

I don't find any other con in this..

Will I repurchase it?- Yes, definitely! First let me see how long it takes to finish this. ;)

Colorbar Indian Eye Kohl/Kajal Review and Swatches!

Hey guys! Hope you liked my previous post on the little diy I did.

Today I am going to review an eye kohl or let us better call it our kajal by Colorbar. This was my first product from the brand Colorbar USA. I had got this from Urbantouch.com  last October and I have used it since then.

Price:- I'd got it for Rs.125/- (but I guess it is now for Rs.150/-)

What it claims:-
Colorbar Kajal is smooth to apply and gives the eyes a dramatic jet black color

What I think about this:-
First I'd like to talk about the super sexy packaging of this Kajal! I LOVE how cool it looks. I like it's packaging more than the Colossal Kajal's yellow packaging. Although this one need to be sharpened and the Colossal one comes with a twist-up packaging.I have used this for probably a year now (you can tell, it's size has reduced. It was as long as the box) and its really a good and jet-black kajal. It is a fat Kajal pencil like the NYX Jumbo Pencils.
It is really smooth to apply so no tugging near the eyes. It has a very slight smell of a typical Kajal which I don't think will be a problem for anyone.
The only thing I don't like about this is that it smudges on your waterline and doesn't last long. It smudges in 3-4 hours! I remember I always used to wipe the bottom of my waterline to see if it has smudged or not. Other than that it is a good pencil and I think we can make it work with applying a back eyeshadow on top of this to make it last longer (I'll try this and let you know). And it is definitely better than the Lakme Kajal (not referring to the Eyeconic one, the other Lakme Kajal).

when smudged after 1 minute of swatching :(

Pros:-
1. very black
2. smooth and creamy, hence easy application
3. packaging is good and sturdy
4. inexpensive
5. doesn't irritate the waterline

Cons:-
1. needs to be sharpened (not a problem for me)
2. smudges within 3-4 hours
3. not a good idea to use it as an eyeliner

Will I repurchase it?:- No, I love my Colossal Kajal which is way better than this and now want to try the Eyeconic one. :)

Maybelline Lip Smooth In Mandarin, Strawberry and Dolly Rose Review and Swatches!

Hey everyone!

So today I am going to review a product which I have been using for more that a year now and I realized it today that I haven't reviewed it at all! It is the Maybelline Lip Smooths. Initially I'd bought two of them in Mandarin and Strawberry and after using them for some time I ordered a 3rd one in Dolly Rose. So why only a photo of the Mandarin one?
Because one of my friends destroyed the Dolly Rose one (she twisted out all the chapstick and then it didn't go inside and broke) and the Strawberry one met the same fate but this time I was checking how much is left.. :( So I depotted them both in an empty lip balm jar.

Price- Rs.99/-

What I think about them-
I know you guys might have seen tons of reviews of these lip smooths but I thought I'll add mine too.
I bought them after reading reviews on IMBB and Mandarin was something I wanted. I LOVED all of these..they moisturise your lips without the waxy and heavy feeling. And they also give a very pretty sheen and tint to your lips. I have religiously used the Mandarin one for a while now. The same would have been the case with the other two if they were still intact. You can see there is a whole in my mandarin one in the photo. I carry this everyday to college with me.
But I think they do give a little bit of sticky feeling. Otherwise I loved them, but now I am more addicted to my Nivea Fruity Shine in Pink Guava.

Here are the swatches of all the 3 lip smooths. Strawberry and Dolly Rose may look similar in swatches but the Dolly Rose one gives a more pretty and bright pink tint than the Strawberry one.

And this how I keep the Dolly Rose and Strawberry in a pot. I could save very little amount of the Dolly Rose one and it was the newest and probably my favourite amongst the three. :(

Pros:-
1. Light on lips
2. Moisturises well
3. Gives pretty tint
4. Pocket friendly
5. Nice and cute packaging
6. Stays on for 3-4 hours

Cons:-
1. Applying too much can give a slight sticky feeling
2. The twist-up thing may not work properly as it happened with me.

Will I repurchase them?- I was going to, but now I am more eager to get the Baby Lips and more of Nivea Fruity Shines.

Jordana Blush in ‘Touch of Pink’ Review, Swatches!

Hey guys! So today I am going to review a Blush! And I love blushes a lot and that’s the only thing I wish to have a HUGE collection of in future! (and I think I am going to say that every time I review a blush. Ha!)

I am reviewing a Jordana Blush in ‘Touch of Pink’ which I got in October from Urbanotuch.com after which Jordana stuff disappeared from UT (does anyone know why??) and it was featured in my huge haul too! And I got some requests right at that time to review it, so finally here’s the review! I am sorry I couldn’t post it before.

M.R.P.: It says 229INR/- for 2.2 gm  but I got it for around 189INR/- (from Urbantouch.com)

Packaging: It comes in a shiny silver circular pan with a screw open lid. I wish it came with a flip open lid, it would have been so much easier to use it! The packaging is okay and sturdy but the lid is not!

What I think about it:
I’d got this blush just because it was so cheap and plus I wanted to get some blushes! See, I still want some blushes, it is never going to end! Ha!
I got it in the shade called Touch of Pink but it’s not pink at all instead it is a nice warm peach color which I really like and gives a warm peachy glow to you face. It’s decently pigmented so one has to build it up if it’s not showing up but I think it is perfect for beginners who are just starting out with makeup. When one has just started using a blush the probability of going wrong is more so with a blush like Jordana, one doesn’t have to worry since it is not super pigmented and one can manage the amount to be applied.
It stays on for pretty long too i.e. 4-5 hours I guess, I like wearing this one to college since it is so natural looking.

If there is something I don’t like about this is it’s lid which is a hassle when you are in a hurry in the morning. And the sad thing is I dropped this blush twice and it was completely shattered after that (pic of the blush in present condition is below)! That's the another thing which is keeping me away from this blush, since I am always in a hurry to get ready for college and I don’t want it falling all over me. Other than that I like this blush a lot and I am surely going to get some more of these.

Well Jordana is available in the Beauty Center (Crawford Market) and also on Healthkart.com if any of you wanna check it out.  I am planning to check out more Jordana products from the Beauty Center, so I’ll keep you guys updated once I know the price of things there.

This is how it has become!!!! Shattered!!!!!!!!!! :/

And now here are the swatches below:

Will I buy this again?: Defintely!!!! I am eyeing the shade called ‘Terracotta’ already! ;)

Miss Claire Eye Pencils in Denim Blue and Tahitian Blue, Review, swatches

Hey everyone!
Today I am reviewing Miss Claire Eye Pencils called the Glimmersticks in the shades ‘denim blue’ and ‘tahitian blue’.
These come for I think somewhere around 150 INR/- each and in various shades. I have three more of these in Black, White and a grey one called Graphite which have been reviewed already.

Packaging:
It comes with a silver lid and the rest of the pencil is in the color of the liner. It has to be sharpened.

My take on the product:
Since I already had tried some liners from this brand and I wanted to get some fun colored eye liners I got these two! And I’d had them for some months now.
Now on to the two shades..Denim Blue is a pretty blue shade with shimmer and looks my warm brown eyes pop! Whereas Tahitian Blue is not blue at all, it is dark green in fact and matt with no shimmer at all! They are creamy in texture and pigmented but now the problem arises..it doesn’t stay long!! It fades that too unevenly. Yeah..I have tried them at home first so that I know how long they stay but I noticed they stay on one eye and fades on another! This is not what we want our liners to do right??!!  And they smudge as well. And they don’t come with testers as well..so you can’t swatche them..
I haven’t dared to use these to college after that! But I tried some eyeshadow swatches on with these as base and it works that way! So I can use them when I do looks atleast!
But I still love the other grey one from Miss Claire called ‘Graphite’!

Tahitian Blue on left, Denim Blue on right

smudged! :/

Will I buy these again?: No!! I am looking forward to get my hands on some Faces liners instead.

Review_VOV Beaute Pencil Eyeliner in Black!

So here's a liner I was using for such a long time and I never reviewed it!! Even the pictures are from my previous cam which was stolen!! RIP my dear cam.. :'(
Ok..I know I am bad at doing reviews and posts on time..blame it on college life... :D

I got VOV kohl eyeliner probably a year ago..I think I got this for somewhere near 100 INR or less..don't remember see!!

-Its waterline safe..and that's how I was using this all this while..(yes..I have got something better now!!)
-Stays on for good 4-5 hours..I guess..and even when it starts fading it doesn't smudge around..so thats a good thing!!
-Its a cheapo!! College girls (read like me!) can definitely go for this!!
-The pigmentation is pretty good...
-It glides smoothly..no tugging required!

Cons? I don't think there are any..what else you expect in such a price!! Its a budget buy!!! :D
Swatches below! :)

Drugstore Blush Palette Review and Swatches

So here's a review (after so many days!!)..
I am reviewing a Blush Palette I got some 2 months back..from a random brand for 200INR..just for the sake of trying out different blush colours.. I had also shown this in a haul post.

It has five powder Blushes, the 1st one with little shimmer and rest of the four are matte!
The first one is perfect as a highlighter.
The 2nd and 3rd colours would look better on fair skinned beauties..I personally like the last two ones!
The pigmentation is good and staying power is also ok..So in all its a good buy for me!!

Here are the swatches- (the last one wasn't showing up...but its a nice colour!)

What do you think about this? Which drugstore ones you suggest?
